Welcoming of Chief Sangha Nayake Thera of Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya to Great Britain

Venerable Mapalagama Soratha thera, Deputy Head of Jethavana Buddhist Vihara, Birmingham together with devotees of Vihara, organised welcoming ceremony of Chief Sangha Nayake Thera of Sri Lanka Ramanna Maha Nikaya to Great Britain, Venerable keppetiyagoda Gunawansa Maha Thera on Sunday 05th September 2010 at JBV premises with gathering with hundreds of devotees.

JBV devotees and JBV Dhamma school children welcomed the chief Sangha Nayake at the entrance of the temple premises and arrived to Shrine room with a simple procession.

Venerable Teldeniyaye Amitha thera, deputy head of Leicester Buddhist vihara, conducted the ceremony and Blessing Bodhi Puja and Ven.Pidiville Piyatissa Maha Thera, The Head of Manchester Kethumati Buddhist Vihara delivered a speech. Dr.Hewa Vitharana, the president of JBV Trust delivered a speech behalf of all devotees and welcomed the Nayake thera. Finally Venerable Keppetiyagoda Gunawansa, chief Sangha Nayake thera transferred merit and thanks to all who attended and lay Buddhists who tried to gain this new title.

Following monks attended the event Venerable Dunukewatte Rathanajothi Maha thera, The head monk of Leicester Buddhist ViharaVenerable Matale Dhammarakkitha thero and Venerable Kirimetiyane Dhammika thera from Ketumati Buddhist Vihara, Manchester and residence monks of JBV.
