On 8th September 2011 Rector of Oscott catholic seminary Rev: Far: Mgr: Mark Crisp S: T: B: welcomed Rector of minor catholic seminary Anuradhapura Sri Lanka Rev: Far Nimal Madurapperuma Don.
The Oscott catholic seminary and St: Mary’s college opened in 1794 with a small group of school boys and three seminary students. Francis Martyn was ordained in 1805 and was the first priest wholly trained in England since the reformation. Then the college expanded and catholic life in England emerged upon this site.
Also Rev: Far: NIMAL Madurapperuma Don met many UK living Sinhalese and Tamil Sri Lankans. He is from the archdiocese of Anuradapura and served many parishes as a parish priest. Born in Ragama Teawatta, he was a student of De Mazenod College and Stratford College Colombo. Rev: Far: Nimal the first Rector of Anuradhapura catholic seminary visited Oscott seminary. He was sponsored by the President of the Association of UK Sri Lankan catholic in the Midlands; Mrs Mary Manel Madurapperuma.
